How to Sleep in a Bathtub: 9 Steps

Sometimes, you might find yourself in a situation where you need to sleep in a bathtub. Whether it’s due to construction noise, lack of sleeping space, or for a relaxing experience, here are nine steps to help you sleep comfortably in the bathtub.

1. Clean the bathtub:

Before getting in, make sure your tub is clean and free of debris and dirt. Use cleaning products suitable for your bathtub’s material and rinse thoroughly before moving on to the next step.

2. Choose the right pillow:

Find a comfortable pillow that provides enough support for your head and neck. You can use a regular bed pillow or buy one specifically designed for bathtubs.

3. Gather blankets:

Stay warm by placing soft blankets or thick towels at the bottom of the tub. This also adds extra cushioning and comfort for your body.

4. Adjust water temperature:

Fill the tub with comfortably warm water – not too hot or too cold. The water should reach about halfway up the sides, providing an even temperature during your sleep.

5. Use essential oils or bubble bath:

To enhance relaxation, add few drops of essential oil (like lavender) to the water or pour some bubble bath solution.

6. Lighting:

Dim or turn off any bright lights in the bathroom for an optimal sleeping environment. Ideally, use candles or nightlights for subtle illumination.

7. Turn off distractions:

Shut off any electronic devices such as phones, radios, or TVs that could interrupt your sleep. If possible, close the bathroom door to minimize external noise.

8. Ease into slumber:

Get into a comfortable position and use any relaxation techniques like deep breathing or listening to soothing music on a low volume through earbuds. Allow yourself time to adapt to the new environment and relax.

9. Prepare for moisture:

In case you fall asleep and stay in the tub longer than expected, it’s a good idea to keep a dry towel nearby. Before exiting the tub, be sure to carefully step out and avoid slipping.

By following these nine steps, you can transform your bathtub into a cozy and unique sleeping environment. Enjoy the sensation of floating while drifting off into a restful slumber!
