How to Safely Uninstall Google Drive From a Mac
Google Drive is a popular cloud storage service that allows users to store and access files from anywhere, but it might not be the solution for everyone. If you decide that you no longer need the service, you’ll need to follow certain steps to properly remove it from your Mac. Because the process can help preserve your data and your computer’s performance and safety, this guide will show you how to safely uninstall Google Drive from your Mac.
Step 1: Quit Google Drive
Before you can start the process of uninstalling Google Drive from your Mac, make sure it is not running. To do this, click on the Google Drive icon in the menu bar, then click on the three dots button and select Quit. Make sure there are no Google Drive processes running in the background.
Step 2: Uninstall Google Drive
To uninstall Google Drive from your Mac, click on the Finder icon and navigate to your Applications folder. Find the Google Drive app and then drag it to the Trash. Alternatively, you can right-click the Google Drive icon and select Move to Trash. This will move the Google Drive app to your Trash folder.
Step 3: Delete Google Drive Files
If you are planning on removing Google Drive altogether, then you’ll want to remove all of the files that the service has stored on your computer to avoid any accidental storage. Go to your Downloads folder and drag the Google Drive Installer to the Trash. Then, open your Documents folder and delete the Google Drive folder. Empty your Trash folder to permanently delete all Google Drive files.
Step 4: Remove Google Drive from Login Items
Google Drive may have been set to launch automatically once you log in. If you want to remove it from the list of login items, click on the Apple menu, select System Preferences, and then click on Users & Groups. Select your username from the list on the left, choose the Login Items tab, and then select the Google Drive app. Click on the minus (-) sign at the bottom of the window to remove it, and then close the System Preferences window.
Step 5: Restart Your Mac
Restart your Mac to clear the memory from Google Drive and complete the uninstallation process. Once you have restarted, Google Drive should be uninstalled completely from your Mac.
