How to Remove Ads from Your Kindle Fire HD

Introduction

Ads can often be irritating, especially when they keep popping up while you’re using your Kindle Fire HD. However, there are steps you can follow to remove these ads for a smoother and more enjoyable user experience. In this article, we will take you through these steps, including understanding the types of ads on your Kindle Fire HD and the various options available to remove them.

What are Special Offers?

Kindle Fire HD comes with a feature called “Special Offers.” These are ad campaigns displayed as lock screen wallpapers and in other places within your device. It should be noted that not all Kindle devices come with these ads. If you took advantage of a promotional offer or got a discount on your device, chances are that it was subsidized by Amazon and included these ads.

Method 1: Unsubscribe from Special Offers

1. Visit the Amazon website: To unsubscribe from the Special Offers, you will need to go to Amazon’s official website (amazon.com) and log in with your Amazon account.

2. Manage Your Content and Devices: Click on “Account & Lists” located at the top-right corner of the page, then select “Your Content and Devices.”

3. Devices Tab: Once your content and devices page loads up, click on the “Devices” tab.

4. Find your Kindle: Within the list of devices connected to your account, locate the Kindle Fire HD for which you would like to remove ads.

5. Manage Special Offers: Click on “Settings” under your device’s name, and then click on the “Manage…” button next to “Special Offers.”

6. Unsubscribe: A new window will open up, giving you two options – “Edit” or “Unsubscribe.” Click “Unsubscribe,” and then confirm by clicking “Ok” when prompted.

Note: Unsubscribing from Special Offers might require a one-time fee depending on your device and location. Check the details provided before making the decision to unsubscribe.

Method 2: Get Rid of Ads Without Unsubscribing

If you would prefer not to unsubscribe from Special Offers, you can still reduce ads within your device by following these steps:

1. Install a third-party launcher: Download a third-party launcher from the Amazon Appstore or other sources. This may help suppress ads, and it will also provide a fresh interface for your Kindle Fire HD.

2. Use ad-blocking software: Applications like AdGuard and StopAd can be installed on your Kindle Fire HD to block in-app advertisements. Though they may not universally remove ads, they can improve your device’s overall performance.

3. Run Device in Safe mode: Safe mode disables third-party apps, including potentially ad-supporting ones. Turn off your device, then press and hold the power button while releasing it as soon as the Amazon logo appears. The safe mode message will appear under your device’s logo, confirming that you are in this mode.

Conclusion

Now that you know the methods for removing ads from your Kindle Fire HD, choose the one that works best for you based on your preferences and needs. By reducing or eliminating annoying advertisements, you can enjoy a smoother, less intrusive experience with your Kindle Fire HD device.
