How to Remove a Quick Weave: 12 Steps
A quick weave is a popular styling choice for those looking to achieve fabulous hairstyles without spending too much time and money at the salon. However, removing a quick weave can be quite tricky without damaging your natural hair or causing breakage. Here are 12 steps on how to remove a quick weave safely and efficiently.
.Gather the necessary tools: You will need a rattail comb, hair clips, a spray bottle filled with water, scissors, hair oil or serum (such as coconut or olive oil), shampoo, and conditioner.
.Optional step: It may be helpful to have someone assist in the removal process to ensure that all of the adhesive is removed properly.
.Start by using hair clips to section off your hair into manageable sections. This will make it easier to work on each area of your head.
.If you wore a protective cap under the quick weave, gently lift the edge of the protective cap and peel it away from your scalp. Be careful not to tug on your natural hair during this process.
.Spray water on the first section of hair near your scalp to loosen any glue or adhesive residue.
.Use the rattail comb to gently lift the edge of the synthetic tracks near your scalp. Be gentle to avoid damaging your natural hair underneath.
.Once you have loosened the bond between the synthetic tracks and your natural hair, gently slide the tracks off of your scalp. If you encounter resistance, spray more water and continue gently using the tail end of the comb until friction decreases.
.Repeat steps 5-7 for all sections of your head until all tracks have been removed.
.Once all of the synthetic tracks are removed, apply an oil or serum onto your fingertips and thoroughly massage it into any remaining glue residue on your scalp. This will help break down and dissolve any remaining adhesive.
.Use a mild clarifying shampoo to remove any traces of glue and oil from your hair. Rinse thoroughly and follow with a moisturizing conditioner to replenish moisture and nutrients to your hair.
.After conditioning, gently detangle your hair using a wide-tooth comb, starting at the ends and working your way up to the roots.
.Allow your hair to air dry, or use a low heat setting on your blow dryer. Now that the quick weave is removed, you’re free to style and care for your natural hair.
By following these 12 simple steps, you can safely and effectively remove a quick weave with minimal damage to your natural hair.
