How to Remove a Password From a PDF in Windows

Method 1: Using Adobe Acrobat

Adobe Acrobat is a software application developed by Adobe Systems for manipulating PDF documents. It can also work as a PDF password remover. Here are the steps to follow:

Step 1: Open the encrypted PDF file in Adobe Acrobat.

Step 2: Enter the password for the PDF file when prompted.

Step 3: Select “File” > “Properties” then click on the “Security” tab in the Properties window.

Step 4: In the Security tab, click on the “Security Method” dropdown menu.

Step 5: Select “No Security” in the dropdown menu.

Step 6: Click on the “OK” button to confirm your selection.

Step 7: Save the document by clicking on “File” > “Save”.

Your PDF file will be saved without password protection.

Method 2: Using Google Chrome

Google Chrome is a free web browser that can act as a PDF viewer. It can also remove the password protection from PDFs. Follow these instructions to remove the password from a PDF in Chrome:

Step 1: Open Google Chrome and open the encrypted PDF file.

Step 2: Enter the password for the PDF file when prompted.

Step 3: Click on the “Print” button or press CTRL + P on your keyboard.

Step 4: In the “Destination” section of the print dialog, select “Save as PDF”

Step 5: Click on the “Save” button.

Your PDF file has no password anymore.

Method 3: Using Online Tools

Various online tools are available that can help you remove password protection from a PDF file. Some of these tools include Smallpdf and PDFUnlock. Here are the instructions for using Smallpdf:

Step 1: Open your preferred web browser and search for Smallpdf.

Step 2: Click on the “Unlock PDF” option.

Step 3: Click on the “Choose Files” button to select the PDF file you want to remove the password from.

Step 4: Enter the password of the PDF document when prompted.

Step 5: Click on the “Unlock PDF” button.

Step 6: Download the unlocked PDF document.

In conclusion, you can remove password protection from PDF files you own through Adobe Acrobat, Google Chrome, or Online Tools without much hassle. These methods are straightforward, effective, and accessible. Some may work better than others, depending on your needs and situation, so try them out and choose the one that best suits you.
