Microsoft Excel is one of the most popular spreadsheet software used by millions of people globally. With Excel, users can create, format, and manipulate data in different ways. However, losing or overwriting important files is a common problem that many Excel users face. In this article, we’ll discuss some ways to recover any unsaved or overwritten Microsoft Excel files.

1. Recovering unsaved Excel files

Excel has an auto-recovery feature that automatically saves your work at regular intervals. If your computer crashes, or you close Excel without saving your work, you can recover your unsaved files using the following steps:

– Open Excel and click on “File.”

– Select “Recent.”

– Scroll to the bottom of the page and click “Recover Unsaved Workbooks.”

– Find the file you want to recover and open it.

2. Recovering earlier versions of a saved Excel file

If you accidentally overwrite a saved Excel file, you can recover an earlier version of the file using the following steps:

– Right-click the file you want to recover and select “Properties.”

– Click on “Previous Versions.”
– Find the version you need and click “Restore.”

3. Recovering corrupted Excel files

If your Excel file is corrupted, you can try to recover it using Microsoft’s Open and Repair feature. Here’s how:

– Open Excel and click on “File.”

– Click “Open.”

– Find the damaged file you want to repair.

– Click the arrow next to the “Open” button and select “Open and Repair.”

4. Using third-party data recovery tools

If none of the above methods work, you can try using third-party data recovery tools such as Disk Drill, EaseUS, or Recuva. These tools can help recover deleted or corrupted files from your computer, including Excel files.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
