Motion tracking involves using software to track the motion of a moving object within a video. This technology has revolutionized video production and given rise to incredible effects that were once impossible to achieve. In Adobe After Effects, motion tracking can be used to add text that follows a moving object within a video. Here’s how to motion track text in Adobe After Effects.

Step 1: Import Your Footage

The first step in motion tracking text is to import the footage you want to use. Go to “File” on the top menu bar and select “Import” to import your footage.

Step 2: Create a Text Layer

Next, create a new text layer by going to “Layer” on the top menu bar and selecting “New” > “Text”. You can then type in the text you want to track.

Step 3: Track the Footage

To track the footage, select the layer you want to track, in this case, the text layer. You can then go to “Layer” > “Track Motion”. This will open the “Tracker” panel.

In the “Tracker” panel, you can select the type of tracking you want to use. In this case, we want to use “Position”. You also need to select the region to track. Do this by dragging a rectangle around the area of the footage you want to track.

Once you’ve selected the tracking region, click “Track”. After Effects will then track the movement of the selected region in your footage.

Step 4: Apply the Tracking Data

After the tracking is complete, you need to apply the tracking data to the text layer. To do this, select the layer you want to apply the tracking data to, in this case, the text layer. Then, go to “Layer” > “Transform” > “Track Motion” to bring up the tracking data options.

With the text layer selected, click “Edit Target” on the “Tracker” panel and select the object you want the text to follow. This could be a person, a car, or any other moving object within your footage.

Next, check the “Apply to Target” box and click “OK”. This will apply the tracking data to the text layer, and the text will now follow the movements of the selected object within the video.

Step 5: Fine-Tune the Tracking

After applying the tracking data, you may need to fine-tune it to achieve the desired effect. You can do this by adjusting the tracking settings in the “Tracker” panel, such as the tracking area, tracking sensitivity, and tracking point size.

You can also adjust the text’s position, scale, and rotation to make it fit more naturally with the movements of the tracked object.

Step 6: Render the Final Video

Once you’re happy with the motion-tracked text, you can render the final video. Go to “Composition” > “Add to Render Queue” to add the composition to the Render Queue. Then select your preferred output settings and click “Render”. After rendering, your new motion-tracked video will be ready to share.

In conclusion, motion tracking text in Adobe After Effects is a powerful tool that allows you to add dynamic and engaging visual effects to your videos. Follow these steps to create your own motion-tracked text and take your video production to the next leve
