How to Measure Glasses: 6 Steps

In today’s world of endless eyewear options, making sure your glasses are the perfect fit can seem like quite a daunting task. But fear not – we are here to simplify the process for you! By following the six easy steps below, you’ll be well on your way to finding your ideal pair of glasses.

1.Determine frame size: Frame size is crucial in ensuring that your glasses rest comfortably on your face. Begin by taking note of three key measurements – lens width, nose bridge width, and temple length. Together, these numbers describe the overall physical dimensions of the frame.

2.Measure lens width: Starting with the horizontal measurement across one lens, from one edge to the other, use a millimeter ruler or measuring tape to determine the lens width. A narrow lens typically measures about 48mm or less, while a wider design comes in at around 58mm or more.

3.Measure nose bridge width: Now move on to measuring the distance between the two lenses, where they rest upon your nose. This is known as the nose bridge or bridge width. For most designs, this number will land somewhere between 14mm and 24mm.

4.Measure temple length: Lastly, ascertain the length of each arm (or temple) of your glasses by measuring from their hinge to their respective ear tips. Most adult frames have a temple length ranging from 135mm to 150mm.

5.Pay attention to frame shape: Once you have gathered all necessary measurements, it’s important to consider which frame shape best complements your face’s natural features. Popular shapes include rectangular, oval, square, round, and cat-eye designs – remember that opposites attract! For example, if your face is predominantly round, opt for angular frames like rectangles or squares to provide contrast and balance.

6.Test it out using virtual try-on options: Nowadays, many online retailers offer virtual try-on features that allow you to preview different frames on your face using a webcam or uploading a photo. This is a valuable tool in assessing whether your chosen frame size and style suit your face shape and proportions.

In conclusion, measuring your glasses is as simple as gathering three crucial measurements – lens width, nose bridge width, and temple length – and considering factors like frame shape and personal style. With these six easy steps, you are sure to find that perfect pair of glasses that will not only elevate your vision but also enhance your appearance!
