Yogurt covered pretzels are a popular snack option for both kids and adults alike. Their combination of sweet and salty flavors with a delightful crunch make them a go-to nibble for many. The good news is that you can make yogurt covered pretzels at home with just a few simple ingredients and steps.

Ingredients:

– 1 bag (16 oz) of small or medium-sized pretzels (twists or rods)

– 2 cups yogurt chips

– 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (optional, to thin out the yogurt chips)

– Optional toppings: sprinkles, nuts, chocolate chips, etc.

Equipment:

– Double boiler or microwave-safe bowl

– Baking sheet lined with wax paper or silicone mat

– Forks or tongs

Step 1: Preparing the Pretzels

Before starting, make sure all your ingredients and equipment are in place. Lay out your pretzels on the lined baking sheet, making sure they are not overlapping. This will help you work quickly once the yogurt coating is melted.

Step 2: Melting the Yogurt Chips

There are two ways to melt yogurt chips – using a double boiler or a microwave.

Double Boiler Method:

1. Fill the bottom pan with water and place it on the stove over medium heat.

2. Add yogurt chips to the top pan.

3. Stir frequently until the yogurt chips are fully melted, smooth, and glossy.

Microwave Method:

1. Place yogurt chips in a microwave-safe bowl.

2. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval until fully melted and smooth.

If your melted yogurt chips are too thick to work with, add a tablespoon of vegetable oil and mix it in to thin out the consistency.

Step 3: Dipping Pretzels into Yogurt

Dip each pretzel into the melted yogurt, making sure it is well coated. You can use forks or tongs to do this. Tap off any excess yogurt and place the coated pretzels back onto the lined baking sheet.

Step 4: Adding Toppings

While the yogurt coating is still wet, you can add optional toppings like sprinkles, nuts, or chocolate chips. Be sure to do this quickly before the coating starts to set.

Step 5: Refrigerate and Enjoy!

Place the baking sheet with your yogurt covered pretzels into the refrigerator for about 30 minutes, or until the yogurt coating has set and hardened. After this, your delicious homemade snack is ready to enjoy! Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator for up to a week.

Making yogurt-covered pretzels is a fun and easy way to create a tasty treat for yourself and others. With these simple steps, you can customize your homemade snacks and enjoy them any time you’d like. Happy snacking!
