Step 1: Gather Your Materials

To make rosewater perfume, you’ll need the following:

– Fresh rose petals (preferably organic)

– Distilled water

– A large pot with a lid

– A heat-resistant glass bowl

– Ice cubes

– Cheesecloth or a fine mesh strainer

– A spray bottle or perfume bottle for storage

Step 2: Pick the Right Roses

Choose fragrant roses that are free of pesticides and chemicals. The best time to pick roses is in the morning, after the dew has dried but before the heat of the day.

Step 3: Remove the Petals

Gently remove the rose petals from the stems, making sure not to bruise them. Discard any damaged or browning petals.

Step 4: Rinse the Petals

Quickly and gently rinse the rose petals under cool water to remove any dirt or debris.

Step 5: Prepare Your Pot

Place the heat-resistant glass bowl in the center of your pot.

Step 6: Add Rose Petals to the Pot

Evenly distribute your clean rose petals around the bowl in your pot.

Step 7: Add Water to Create Steam

Pour distilled water into your pot, just enough to cover the rose petals without spilling into your glass bowl.

Step 8: Create a Condensation Effect

Put your pot’s lid upside down on top of it so that it fits tightly, and place a few ice cubes on top of it. This will create a condensation effect as you heat the mixture.

Step 9: Heat Mixture Over Low Heat

Heat your rose petal and water mixture over low heat, making sure that it never reaches a boil. The aim is to steam the petals as opposed to cooking them.

Step 10: Watch for Condensation

As you heat your pot, you’ll notice condensation on the underside of the lid. This is your rosewater, which will slowly collect in the bowl.

Step 11: Collect Rosewater

Simmer your mixture for about an hour, or until you have collected enough rosewater in your bowl. Keep an eye on the process to make sure there’s still water in the pot and that the petals aren’t burning.

Step 12: Strain Your Rosewater

Remove the pot from heat and carefully extract the glass bowl, using oven mitts or a towel. Pour your rosewater through your cheesecloth or mesh strainer to remove any leftover petals.

Step 13: Cool Your Rosewater

Allow your strained rosewater to cool completely before continuing with the perfume-making process.

Step 14: Bottle Your Perfume

Pour your cooled rosewater into your spray bottle or perfume bottle, and you now have your own homemade rosewater perfume! To ensure it lasts for several months, keep it stored in a cool, dark place.
