Step 1: Gather your ingredients

To make cake mix cookies, you will need the following ingredients:

– 1 box of cake mix (any flavor you prefer)

– 1/2 cup of vegetable oil

– 2 large eggs

– 1 tsp of vanilla extract (optional)

– Optional add-ins such as chocolate chips, sprinkles, nuts or candies

Step 2: Preheat your oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C). You’ll need a well-heated oven to ensure evenly baked cookies.

Step 3: Line baking sheets

Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats. This will prevent the cookies from sticking to the sheets and make cleanup easier.

Step 4: Combine your ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract (if using). Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated and there are no dry spots left.

Step 5: Add optional mix-ins

If you’re using any optional add-ins like chocolate chips or nuts, fold them into the cookie dough. Make sure they’re evenly distributed throughout the dough to ensure a consistent texture in each cookie.

Step 6: Scoop and form dough balls

Using a small ice cream scoop or tablespoon, scoop out portions of dough and roll them between your hands to form uniform balls. Place these balls on your prepared baking sheets spaced about two inches apart.

Step 7: Flatten dough balls slightly (Optional)

For flatter cookies, gently press down on each dough ball with the back of a spoon or the palm of your hand. This step is optional but recommended if you prefer thinner cookies.

Step 8: Bake your cookies

Put the baking sheets in your preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges begin to turn golden brown and the centers are set. Keep an eye on your cookies to avoid overbaking, as every oven is different.

Step 9: Cooling

Once baked, carefully remove the baking sheets from the oven and let the cookies cool on the sheets for about 5 minutes. Transfer the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 10: Enjoy!

Now that your cake mix cookies are finished cooling, enjoy them with a glass of milk or your favorite beverage! Store any remaining cookies in an airtight container for up to five days.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech.
