Step 1: Choose your paper. Select a piece of paper that is sturdy and colorful to create a visually appealing basket. Cardstock, construction paper, or even newspaper can be used.

Step 2: Cut the paper into a square shape. If your paper is not already in the form of a square, use a ruler and scissors to cut it down to size.

Step 3: Fold the square in half diagonally. With the colored side facing downward, fold the square from one corner to the opposite corner to form a triangle.

Step 4: Unfold the triangle and fold it again along the other diagonal axis. You should have two creases forming an ‘X’ on your square paper.

Step 5: Fold all four corners towards the center of the paper. The tips of the corners should touch each other in the middle of the square.

Step 6: Unfold all four corners. You should now have four triangular shaped creases radiating from the center of your paper.

Step 7: Fold each side’s outer edge towards the center line created by two diagonal folds. Your paper should now resemble a diamond shape with two flaps on either side.

Step 8: Unfold both flaps to reveal triangular pocket-like shapes along all four sides.

Step 9: Insert your fingers into each pocket and pulls its edges outward gently, expanding the sides of your basket.

Step 10: Prepare handle strips by cutting strips of paper about an inch wide and long enough to span across your basket as a handle.

Step 11: Apply glue or tape to both ends of a handle strip, ensuring that it’s secure on either side of your basket’s rim.

Step 12: Repeat steps 1-11 using different colors and patterns of paper for multiple baskets, varying sizes by adjusting your starting square dimensions.

Step 13: Allow the glue to dry completely before using your basket. If possible, let the handle dry overnight.

Step 14: Decorate your paper baskets with stickers, ribbons, or other embellishments to give them a personal touch and added flair.

Step 15: Use your paper baskets for storage or gifting. Fill them with small items like candies, jewelry, or other trinkets for a thoughtful and creative gift.

With these 15 steps, you can create beautiful and functional paper baskets that are perfect for adding a unique touch to special events or simply organizing items around your home. Enjoy the satisfaction of crafting handmade baskets and impressing your friends and family with your newfound skill!

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
