Introduction:

Fleas can be a real nuisance for your pets and household. But instead of reaching for chemical flea treatments, why not try a natural alternative that’s safe for your pets and family? This article will guide you through the process of making a lemon flea spray in 14 simple steps.

Step 1: Gather your supplies

First, you’ll need the following items:

– 3-4 fresh lemons

– A large pot or saucepan

– Water

– Strainer or colander

– A spray bottle

Step 2: Wash the lemons thoroughly

Start by washing the lemons under cool running water to remove any dirt or pesticides.

Step 3: Slice the lemons

Cut the lemons into thin slices, around 1/4 inch thick.

Step 4: Add the sliced lemons to the pot

Place the lemon slices in a large pot or saucepan.

Step 5: Cover with water

Cover the lemon slices with about 2 quarts of water. You want just enough water to cover the slices completely.

Step 6: Bring to a boil

Heat the pot on high, bringing the lemon and water mixture to a boil.

Step 7: Simmer

Reduce heat and allow the mixture to simmer for about 30 minutes. This helps to release essential oils and other lemon compounds that are effective against fleas.

Step 8: Remove from heat and let steep

After simmering, remove the pot from heat and allow it to cool completely. Keep the lemon slices submerged in water during this time so their properties can continue dissolving into the liquid.

Step 9: Drain lemon mixture into another container

Using a strainer or colander, drain the lemon mixture into another container. The liquid should now resemble a concentrated lemon tea.

Step 10: Fill the spray bottle

Pour the cooled lemon liquid into a spray bottle, filling it up to its capacity.

Step 11: Store any leftovers

If your spray bottle isn’t big enough to hold all the liquid, store the remaining mixture in a tightly sealed container and keep it in the refrigerator for future use.

Step 12: Shake well before each use

Before using the lemon flea spray, make sure to shake the bottle well to combine any settled ingredients.

Step 13: Test spray on an inconspicuous area

Always test the lemon flea spray on a small, hidden area of your pet’s fur or bedding to ensure there are no adverse reactions.

Step 14: Apply as needed

Spray the lemon flea solution directly onto your pet’s coat and bedding, avoiding their eyes, nose, and mouth. You can use this natural remedy as often as needed to keep fleas at bay.

Conclusion:

A lemon flea spray not only keeps fleas away but also provides a pleasant citrus scent in your home. With these 14 steps, you can easily create this natural alternative to chemical flea treatments, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for you and your pets!
