How to Log In to a Mac Without Using the Keyboard
For Mac users, logging in to their device is usually done by entering a password on the keyboard. But what if you can’t access the keyboard? Whether your keyboard is faulty or you simply can’t use it, there are different ways to log in to your Mac without using a keyboard. In this article, we’ll discuss some of the methods you can try.
- Use Touch ID
If you have a MacBook Pro with Touch Bar, you can use Touch ID to log in to your Mac without using the keyboard. This feature allows you to use your fingerprint as the password. Simply place your finger on the Touch ID sensor and your Mac will unlock.
- Use Apple Watch
If you have an Apple Watch, you can use it to unlock your Mac without entering your password. To enable this feature, go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General and tick the box that says “Use your Apple Watch to unlock apps and your Mac.” Once enabled, your Mac will automatically unlock when your Apple Watch is nearby.
- Use Voice Control
If you have enabled Voice Control on your Mac, you can use it to log in without a keyboard. To do this, say “Open Security & Privacy” and then “Click the lock.” You will then be prompted to enter your password using Voice Control. Just say the password out loud and your Mac will unlock.
- Use Remote Desktop
If you have another device with a keyboard connected to it, such as a smartphone or tablet, you can use Remote Desktop to log in to your Mac. Simply download a remote desktop app on your mobile device and connect to your Mac. You can then use the virtual keyboard on your mobile device to enter your password and log in.
- Use Screen Sharing
If your Mac is connected to another device, you can use Screen Sharing to log in without a keyboard. Using another Mac or Windows computer, connect to your Mac using Screen Sharing. You can then use the keyboard on the other device to log in to your Mac.
