How to Install Multiple Copies and Run Multiple Instances of Android Apps

If you are an avid Android user, chances are that you have come across a situation where you need to run multiple instances of an app. For example, you may want to run two separate WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger accounts on the same device. This is where installing multiple copies of an app and running multiple instances of it comes in handy. In this article, we will guide you through the process of how to install multiple copies and run multiple instances of Android apps.

Method 1: Using an app cloning tool

There are several app cloning tools available on the Google Play Store that can help you run multiple instances of an app. Some of the popular ones include Parallel Space, Dual Apps, App Cloner, and Clone App. Here are the steps to use an app cloning tool:

Step 1: Download and install the app cloning tool of your choice from the Google Play Store.

Step 2: Open the app cloning tool and select the app that you want to clone.

Step 3: Tap on the clone button to create a duplicate copy of the app.

Step 4: Once the clone is created, you can open it and sign in with a different account or use a different phone number to use the app.

Note: Some apps may not work properly when cloned, especially those that require phone number verification such as WhatsApp. Additionally, cloned apps may consume more battery and storage, so make sure your device has enough resources to handle them.

Method 2: Using the app sandboxing feature

If your Android device runs on Android 9.0 Pie or above, you can take advantage of the app sandboxing feature to run multiple instances of an app without using a third-party app cloning tool. Here is how you can use the app sandboxing feature:

Step 1: Go to Settings > Apps and notifications > App info.

Step 2: Select the app that you want to run multiple instances of.

Step 3: Tap on the Advanced option.

Step 4: Select the option for App sandboxing.

Step 5: Toggle the switch for Allow multiple instances to enable the feature.

Step 6: Open the app, and a new instance of it will be created every time you tap on the app icon.

Note: Not all apps support the app sandboxing feature. Additionally, this method may cause the created instances to crash or have performance issues.

Conclusion

Running multiple instances of Android apps can be useful in several situations, especially if you need to use multiple accounts or numbers for the same app. While there are different ways to install multiple copies and run multiple instances of apps on Android devices, using third-party app cloning tools or the app sandboxing feature are the simplest and most straightforward methods. However, it is essential to keep in mind that not all apps may work with cloned instances, and your device may consume more resources when running multiple instances.
