How to Install and Play Epic Games and GOG Titles on Your Steam Deck
The Steam Deck is a powerful handheld gaming device that supports a wide range of games. However, not all games are available on Steam. If you are a fan of Epic Games or GOG titles, you can still play them on your Steam Deck by following these simple steps.
Step 1: Install the Required Software
To install and play Epic Games or GOG titles, you need to install two pieces of software on your Steam Deck – Lutris and Wine.
Lutris is a game manager that allows you to install and launch games from various distribution platforms. Wine is a compatibility layer that allows you to run Windows-based software on Linux systems.
To install Lutris and Wine, you need to open the terminal on your Steam Deck and enter the following commands:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:lutris-team/lutris
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install lutris wine
Step 2: Configure Lutris
Once you have installed Lutris and Wine, you need to configure Lutris to work with Epic Games or GOG. To do this, you need to follow these steps:
- Open Lutris and click on the “Settings” button.
- Click on the “System Options” tab and then click on the “Runner Options” tab.
- Under the “Wine” section, click on the “Browse” button and select the “wine” executable from the Wine directory.
- Under the “General Options” tab, make sure that “Use system’s libraries” is checked.
Step 3: Install and Play Epic Games or GOG Titles
Now that you have configured Lutris, you can install and play Epic Games or GOG titles on your Steam Deck. To do this, follow these steps:
- Open Lutris and click on the “Install” button.
- Search for the Epic Games or GOG title that you want to play and click on it.
- Click on the “Install” button to start the installation process.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
- Once the installation is complete, click on the “Play” button to launch the game.
