Spread the love

Social distancing has forced us to find new ways to connect with our loved ones. One of those ways is by hosting a virtual watch party. With streaming services on the rise and new technology available, it has become easy and fun to create a communal experience while being miles apart from each other. Here we explain different ways to host a virtual watch party.

1. Netflix Party Browser Extension

Netflix Party is a free and easy-to-use browser extension that allows you to watch Netflix with your friends or family members from anywhere around the world. To start, all you need is a Netflix account and the Google Chrome Browser installed on your computer. Once you download the extension, you can create a virtual theater with a chat option on the right-hand side. You can invite as many people as you like and chat as you watch the movie together.

2. Disney+ GroupWatch

Disney+ has also introduced its GroupWatch feature, which allows you to watch Disney+ content with up to six different people. It is available on any device that supports Disney+ and is available in the United States, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia. To start, open Disney+ on your browser or app, choose a movie, and click on the GroupWatch icon to invite friends or family members to join in.

3. Teleparty

Formerly known as Netflix Party until it expanded to include other streaming services, Teleparty is an excellent option for hosting virtual watch parties with Hulu, Disney+, and HBO Max. It also provides a chat feature and a synchronizes player feature that allows you to all watch together. All it requires is to download the extension, create an account and start inviting your virtual guests.

4. Scener

Scener is an excellent platform for organizing a virtual movie night with a built-in video chat experience. It is available on Netflix, HBO Max, Disney+, and Hulu. However, a subscription is necessary to enjoy the platform’s high-end features. With Scener, you can watch TV shows and movies with up to ten people while video chatting through a sidebar.

5. Amazon Prime Watch Party

Amazon Prime members can invite up to 100 friends to watch the same movie or tv show at once. However, it only works on the desktop website rather than streaming through Amazon Prime Video applications. After starting the Watch Party, invite your friends by sharing a link so they can join in on the fun.

In conclusion, hosting virtual watch parties has never been easier. Thanks to advances in technology, you and your friends or family members can recreate the cinema experience in the safety of your own homes. With a multitude of options available, you have the choice of which platform suits you best, so why not try one today? Get your popcorn and your favorite beverage and enjoy your virtual movie night.
