In the age of social media, privacy is a growing concern for many people. Facebook, as one of the most popular platforms, offers numerous ways to manage your privacy settings. One such setting is the ability to hide your birthday from your friends and followers. If you want to keep this information private, follow the simple steps outlined in this article.

Step 1: Log in to your Facebook account

To begin, log into your Facebook account from either a web browser or the Facebook app on your mobile device.

Step 2: Access your profile

Navigate to your profile by clicking on your name at the top-left corner of the screen on a desktop or tapping on the menu icon and selecting “Profile” on a mobile device.

Step 3: Go to ‘About’ tab

On a desktop, click on “About” below your cover photo. On a mobile device, scroll down and tap on “See Your About Info.”

Step 4: Accessing ‘Contact and Basic Info’

In the About section, locate and click/tap on “Contact and Basic Info” in the left-side menu.

Step 5: Edit your birthday settings

Scroll down to find your “Birthday” or “Birth Year.” Depending on which you want to edit or hide, click/tap on the Edit icon (pencil) next to each option.

Step 6: Adjust privacy

A dropdown menu will appear with multiple privacy settings:

– Public: Everyone can see this information.

– Friends: Only people you are friends with can see this information.

– Only me: Only you can see this information.

– Custom: You may choose specific individuals who can/cannot view this information.

Select “Only me” if you wish to completely hide this data or make any other desired adjustments.

Step 7: Save changes

Finally, click/tap “Save Changes” located below each setting. Your birthday information will now be hidden according to the privacy settings you selected.

In conclusion, managing your privacy on Facebook is a good practice to ensure that personal information such as your birthday is not visible to uninvited individuals. By following these simple steps outlined above, you can keep your birthdate private and gain better control over what personal data others can view on your Facebook profile. Remember always to review and adjust your Facebook privacy settings to maintain a secure online presence.
