Remote Desktop is a popular feature of Windows that allows users to access a computer from a location other than the one where it is located. However, sometimes users may encounter an error – Remote Desktop can’t connect to the remote computer. This article provides easy solutions to fix this issue.

1. Check network connectivity: The first thing to do is to check if the computer you are trying to connect to is connected to the network. Make sure that the computer is powered on and has a stable network connection.

2. Check the firewall settings: Remote Desktop requires that port 3389 is open on the firewall. Therefore, if you cannot connect, it is possible that the firewall is blocking the connection. Check the Windows Firewall settings to ensure remote desktop traffic is allowed. If you are using a third-party firewall, make sure that the Remote Desktop traffic is allowed.

3. Verify Remote Desktop settings: Make sure that Remote Desktop is enabled on the remote computer. To do this, right-click on the My Computer icon and select Properties. Click on the Remote tab and check the option “Allow users to connect remotely to this computer.” Also, make sure the user account you are attempting to connect with has permission to access the computer remotely.

4. Check user credentials: Sometimes, the Remote Desktop error can be caused by incorrect username and password credentials. Ensure that the login details you are using are correct.

5. Update Remote Desktop: If you are using an older version of Remote Desktop, try updating to the latest version. Microsoft consistently updates Remote Desktop, which could fix any issues you may be encountering.

6. Restart the remote computer: Sometimes, restarting the remote computer can fix the issue. Use alternative methods to do this if you can’t access the computer remotely.

7. Check for malware: If malware is not allowing the connection, run a malware scan and check if it can be resolved.

In conclusion, these solutions will help you fix the Remote Desktop can’t connect to the remote computer error. These troubleshooting tips are easy to follow and can be done without the involvement of professionals. Follow these steps and analyze each one to solve the error efficiently.
