If you are an Android user, you may have come across the “something went wrong try again” error message while accessing the Google Play Store. This frustrating issue prevents you from downloading or installing apps on your device. However, there are several ways to fix this problem, and in this article, we’ll take a look at them.

1. Clear Cache and Data

One of the simplest and most effective ways to fix the “something went wrong try again” error is by clearing the cache and data of the Google Play Store app. This helps in removing any corrupted or outdated files that may be causing the problem.

To clear cache and data, follow these steps:

Step 1: Go to “Settings” on your device.
Step 2: Scroll down and select “Apps” or “Applications” depending on your device.
Step 3: Find “Google Play Store” and tap on it.
Step 4: Tap on “Storage.”
Step 5: Tap the “Clear Cache” and “Clear Data” buttons.
Step 6: Restart your device and try accessing the Google Play Store again to see if the issue has been resolved.

2. Check Your Internet Connection

Another common reason for the “something went wrong try again” error is a weak or inconsistent internet connection. Ensure that your device is connected to a stable Wi-Fi or cellular network.

If you’re on Wi-Fi, try resetting your router or modem. You can also switch to a different network to check if the issue persists.

3. Update the Google Play Store App

Sometimes, the error message appears when you’re using an outdated version of the Google Play Store app. Updating the app to the latest version can fix this problem.

To update the Google Play Store app, follow these steps:

Step 1: Go to the Google Play Store.
Step 2: Tap on the three horizontal lines in the top-left corner of the screen.
Step 3: Select “My apps & games.”
Step 4: Look for “Google Play Store” and tap “Update.”
Step 5: Wait for the update to complete and try accessing Google Play again.

4. Disable Your VPN

If you’re using a Virtual Private Network (VPN) on your Android device, it can sometimes interfere with the Google Play Store’s access to the internet, resulting in the error message. Disabling the VPN may solve the problem.

To turn off the VPN, open your device’s settings and navigate to “Network & internet.” Select “VPN” and turn off the toggle button next to your VPN.

5. Factory Reset

If none of the above solutions work, you may need to perform a factory reset on your device. This should be a last resort, as it will erase all data on your device.

To do a factory reset on your Android device, follow these steps:

Step 1: Go to “Settings.”
Step 2: Tap on “System.”
Step 3: Select “Reset options.”
Step 4: Tap on “Erase all data (factory reset).”
Step 5: Follow the instructions on the screen.

Final Thoughts

The “something went wrong try again” issue is a common problem when using the Google Play Store app on an Android device. However, don’t panic if you encounter this error as there are several ways to fix it. Try the solutions mentioned above, and if the problem persists, seek help from a professional.
