Mouse lag is a common issue faced by many Windows 11 and 10 users. It can be frustrating when your cursor moves sluggishly or stutters on the screen, making it nearly impossible to use your computer efficiently. In this article, we will discuss how to fix mouse lag in Windows 11 and 10.

  1. Update Your Mouse Drivers

Sometimes, outdated mouse drivers can cause lag issues. You can update your mouse drivers by navigating to the Device Manager. Press the Windows key + X and click on Device Manager from the pop-up menu. Next, locate your mouse, right-click on it, and select Update Driver from the context menu. Finally, select “Search automatically for updated driver software” and follow the prompts.

  1. Change Your Mouse Settings

Changing your mouse settings can sometimes fix mouse lag problems. You can try adjusting the pointer speed, changing the scroll wheel settings, or disabling pointer precision. To do this, navigate to the Mouse settings in the Control Panel. Here, you can experiment with different settings until you find what works best for your computer.

  1. Adjust Your Power Settings

Your computer’s power settings can also affect your mouse’s performance. If your computer is set to a power-saving mode, it might be limiting your mouse’s performance. To change this, click on the Battery icon in the taskbar and select Power & sleep settings. Click on Additional power settings and select High performance.

  1. Disable Background Programs

If you have too many background programs running, they can affect your mouse’s performance. To disable background programs, press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open the Task Manager. Check the list of running programs and close any unnecessary programs by right-clicking and selecting End Task.

  1. Remove Interference

Interference from other wireless devices can also affect your mouse’s performance. To fix this, move any other wireless devices away from your computer and mouse to reduce interference. Additionally, make sure your mouse’s receiver is close to your mouse and not blocked by any physical objects.
