Your iPhone screen turning black and white can be an alarming sight. It can be frustrating and make it difficult to use your phone. However, this issue is not uncommon, and there are several methods that you can try to fix it.

Here’s how to fix it when your iPhone screen turns black and white:

  1. Check if your iPhone is in grayscale mode

The first thing you should check is if your iPhone is in grayscale mode. This setting will cause the display to show only black, white, and shades of gray. To check if your iPhone is in grayscale mode:

– Go to Settings > General > Accessibility

– Scroll down and tap on Display Accommodations

– Look for the Color Filters option and make sure it is turned off.

If your iPhone is in grayscale mode, turn it off, and your display will return to its original color.

  1. Restart your iPhone

Sometimes, restarting your iPhone can solve this issue. Restarting your iPhone can free up any resources that may be causing the problem. To restart your iPhone:

– Press and hold the power button until you see the “slide to power off” option on the screen.

– Slide the button to power off your phone.

– Wait a few moments and then press and hold the power button until the Apple logo appears.

Once your phone has restarted, check if the screen has returned to its original color.

  1. Update your iPhone’s software

Software updates often fix known bugs and issues. If your iPhone screen is still black and white, check if there’s an available software update. To update your iPhone’s software:

– Go to Settings > General > Software Update

– If there is an available update, tap Download and Install.

– Follow the instructions provided to complete the update.

  1. Check if your iPhone’s screen is damaged

If none of the above methods solved the issue, it’s possible that your iPhone’s screen is damaged. Damage to the screen can cause issues with the display. If you suspect that the screen is damaged, take your phone to an Apple store or authorized repair center to have it checked.

In conclusion, seeing your iPhone screen turn black and white can be alarming, but it’s not something that can’t be fixed. Follow the above methods and try to restore the color of the display. If none of these methods work, it may be necessary to seek professional assistance. Remember always to back up your information before any troubleshooting to avoid losing data during a software issue.
