How to Fit Micro Ring Hair Extensions

If you’re tired of waiting for your hair to grow out or simply want to experiment with longer, thicker, and more voluminous locks, micro ring hair extensions are an excellent option. These semi-permanent extensions are discrete, non-damaging, and can last for several weeks or even months with proper care. In this article, we’ll provide a comprehensive guide on how to fit micro ring hair extensions.

1. Choose the right extensions:

The first step is to choose the correct type of micro ring hair extensions. They should be 100% human Remy hair, which ensures minimal tangling and a natural look. Consider the following factors when selecting your extensions:

– Color: Match the color of the extension to your natural shade.

– Length: Determine the desired length (shorter extensions will be easier to maintain).

– Texture: Find a texture similar to your natural hair (straight, wavy, curly).

2. Gather necessary tools:

To fit micro rings efficiently and safely, you will need the following tools:

– Pliers

– Loop tool

– Sectioning clips

– Tail comb

– Micro rings

3. Prepare your hair:

Before you begin fitting the micro rings, start by properly washing and drying your hair. It’s essential that your scalp is clean and free of any product residue, as this can hinder the proper attachment of the micro rings.

4. Section your hair:

Use sectioning clips to create horizontal sections across your head, at least an inch above the nape of the neck. You should have 1 to 1½ inch wide sections that are parallel with your earlobes in a U-shape.

5. Thread micro rings onto loop tool:

Insert around ten micro rings onto the loop tool. You’ll be using this tool to attach each extension strand securely.

6. Attach strands one-by-one:

– Select a small section of your natural hair near the hairline, typically ¾ to 1⅓ inch in diameter. This will support the weight of the extension.

– Slide the micro ring onto your natural hair using the loop tool.

– Insert the tip of the extension strand into the micro ring, leaving about 4-6 millimeters between your scalp and the ring.

– Use pliers to clamp the ring securely in place.

7. Complete sections row by row:

Continue attaching each strand one-by-one, maintaining a distance of about 1 centimeter between individual extensions. Fit each section row by row, leaving approximately 1 inch between rows.

8. Blend and style:

Once all extensions are securely fitted, trim and blend them with your natural hair for seamless integration. You can style them as desired using heat tools on low settings.

It’s essential to maintain your micro ring extensions with regular appointments to adjust or replace any loose or slipped rings. By following these steps and superior hair care practices, you’ll enjoy beautiful, natural-looking extensions that can last several weeks or even months.
