How to Enable Night Shift on Your Mac
If you use your Mac late at night or in dimly lit rooms, you may find that the bright blue light from the screen can be harsh on your eyes and even interfere with your sleep. Fortunately, Apple has included a feature called Night Shift in macOS that can help alleviate this problem.
Night Shift is a built-in feature that adjusts the color temperature of your Mac’s display to the warmer end of the spectrum, reducing the amount of blue light emitted by the screen. This can make it easier on your eyes and help you sleep better at night.
Here’s how to enable Night Shift on your Mac:
1. Click on the Apple menu in the top left corner of your screen.
2. Select “System Preferences” from the drop-down menu.
3. Click on “Displays.”
4. Select the “Night Shift” tab at the top of the screen.
5. Choose the schedule that works best for you. You can either have Night Shift turn on automatically from sunset to sunrise, or you can set custom start and end times.
6. Adjust the color temperature slider to your liking. Moving the slider to the right will make the screen warmer, while moving it to the left will make it cooler.
7. You can also enable “Manual” mode, which allows you to turn Night Shift on and off manually.
That’s it! With Night Shift enabled, your Mac’s display will automatically adjust its color temperature to a warmer, more eye-friendly setting. Give it a try and see if it helps you work or browse the web more comfortably at night.
