If you’re using a Chromebook and you need to access developer mode, there are a few steps you’ll need to take. Developer mode on a Chromebook is a useful tool that allows users to gain access to advanced features and customizations. It can also be used to install a different operating system or firmware.

Before we start, it’s important to note that enabling developer mode on your Chromebook will erase all of your existing data. So, be sure to back up your files before proceeding.

Here’s how to enable developer mode on your Chromebook.

Step 1: Turn off your Chromebook

The first step in enabling developer mode on your Chromebook is to turn off the device. Press and hold the power button until the device powers down completely.

Step 2: Turn on your Chromebook

Now, press the power button to turn on your Chromebook. When you see the screen that says “Chrome OS is missing or damaged”, don’t worry, this is normal.

Step 3: Enable developer mode

Press the following keyboard combination: “Ctrl + Alt + T” to open a terminal window. Type the following command: “shell” and press Enter.

Next, type the following command: “sudo chromeos-firmwareupdate –mode=todev” and press Enter. You’ll be prompted to confirm that you want to enable developer mode. Type “y” and press Enter.

Your Chromebook will now reboot and enter developer mode.

Step 4: Disable the OS verification

After your Chromebook has restarted, press the following keyboard combination: “Ctrl + Alt + T” to open a terminal window. Type the following command: “shell” and press Enter.

Next, type the following command: “sudo crossystem dev_boot_signed_only=0” and press Enter. This command will disable OS verification, which means that your Chromebook will now be able to boot from external media.

Congratulations! You have successfully enabled developer mode on your Chromebook.

In conclusion, enabling developer mode on your Chromebook is a simple process but it’s important to remember that it will wipe all of your data. So, make sure to back up your files before proceeding. Once you have enabled developer mode, you’ll be able to access advanced features and customizations that will allow you to get the most out of your device.
