Google Chrome is one of the most popular web browsers available on the market. It offers a plethora of features that cater to everyone’s needs. One of the popular features is the “Reader Mode,” which provides a more convenient reading experience, especially for long-form content articles.

The Chrome Reader mode is a built-in feature that removes all the clutter from a web page, including ads, sidebars, and other distractions, making it easier for the user to read the article without any distractions. This feature is particularly useful for those times when we want to read a lengthy article but find the layout, banners, and pop-ups a little too distracting.

In this article, we will take you through the process of enabling the Chrome Reader mode on your desktop.

How to Enable Chrome Reader Mode on Desktop Browser

Step 1: Open Google Chrome on your desktop.

Step 2: Go to the web page that you would like to read in a reader-friendly mode.

Step 3: Click on the three vertical dots located at the top-right corner of the Chrome browser.

Step 4: Click on the “Distill page” option from the dropdown menu.

Step 5: As soon as you click on the “Distill page” option, Chrome will remove all the ads, images, and other non-text elements from the web page.

Step 6: You can choose to hide images, or only display text from the “Distill page” menu.

Step 7: Once you have selected your read settings, you can start reading without distractions.

How to Customize the Chrome Reader Mode Settings

Chrome also allows users to customize the Reader mode settings according to their preferences. Here’s how:

Step 1: Click on the three vertical dots located at the top-right corner of the Chrome browser.

Step 2: Go to “Settings.”

Step 3: Scroll down to the “Appearance” section and click on “Customize fonts.”

Step 4: Here, you can change the font size and font typeface to your preferred settings.

Step 5: You can also turn on the “Dark mode” option to change the background of the Reader mode to a darker color.

Conclusion

Enabling the Chrome Reader mode is a great way to declutter a webpage and enjoy a distraction-free reading experience. The process is simple, and it doesn’t require any third-party software or extension. By following the steps outlined above, you can enable and customize the reader mode settings to enhance your browsing experience.
