How to Draw Sonic the Hedgehog

Sonic the Hedgehog is one of the most iconic characters in video game history. Ever since his debut in 1991, he has captured the hearts and imaginations of gamers worldwide with his speed, spiky blue hair, and cheeky attitude. If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to draw Sonic the Hedgehog, you’re in luck! This step-by-step guide will help you master the art of drawing Sonic in no time.
Materials You’ll Need:
– Pencil
– Eraser
– Paper
– Coloring materials (optional)
Step 1: Basic Shapes
Start by drawing a circle for Sonic’s head and a slightly smaller oval below it for his body. Make sure there is enough space between them to draw Sonic’s signature neckerchief later on. Draw two lines through the circle, dividing it into four equal sections to help with facial features placement.
Step 2: Facial Features
In the upper half of the head circle, draw two almond-shaped eyes with a small gap between them. Inside each eye, draw a big oval for the pupil and a smaller circle for the highlight. Beneath his eyes, add a small nose shaped like an upside-down triangle with curved sides. For Sonic’s mouth, create a sideways “V” shape underneath his nose and connect this to a curved line that extends towards one side of his face.
Step 3: Ears and Spikes
On top of Sonic’s head, draw two triangular ears on either side of the guiding cross lines. For his trademark spiky hairdo, start with three large spikes at the back of his head – one pointing upwards and two others pointing down on either side. Then, add three smaller spikes beneath these to complete his hair
Step 4: Arms and Hands
Sketch two lines extending down from Sonic’s body for his arms. At the end of each arm, draw a mitten-like hand with a thumb and curved fingers. Make sure one arm is bent upwards, with the hand resting on his hip, while the other hangs downward.
Step 5: Legs and Feet
Draw two curved lines extending from the bottom of the body for Sonic’s legs. Create a large, curved shoe shape at the end of each leg. To give them some flair, add a stripe across the middle of each shoe and a small bump on the bottom for added traction.
Step 6: Finishing Details
Now that you have Sonic’s basic form outlined, it’s time to add some details. Sketch in his neckerchief by drawing an elongated “U” shape between his head and body. Don’t forget to add any other signature features like the color change on his shoes or his trademark golden rings!
Step 7: Cleaning Up
Use your eraser to clean up any smudges or unnecessary guiding lines. You can now either leave your Sonic sketch as-is or use coloring materials to bring him to life!
And that’s it! With this step-by-step guide, you’ve successfully drawn Sonic the Hedgehog! Keep practicing, and soon you’ll be able to draw everyone’s favorite speedy hero with ease.
