4 Ways to Make Your Hair Stand Up

Having hair that stands up adds a fun and dynamic twist to everyday hairstyles. If you’re looking for ways to add some excitement to your look, read on as we discuss four methods to achieve gravity-defying hair.

1. Use a Texturizing Product:

Texturizing products help provide lift and volume to your hair, allowing it to stand up. Options for texturizing products include sprays, powders, and creams. To achieve a strong hold, use a product with a high hold factor. Apply the product to the roots and lengths of your hair, then massage it through with your fingers. For added control, use your fingers or a comb to shape your hair into the desired style.

2. Blow Dry Upside Down:

Using a blow dryer can provide lift at the roots by directing the airflow upward. Start by flipping your head upside down. While keeping your head in this position, use the blow dryer and a round brush with plenty of tension to lift sections of hair upwards from the root, rolling away from the scalp. Ensure you start at the root and lift as you move further towards the tips of your hair.

3. Backcomb Your Hair:

Backcombing is a technique that involves combing sections of hair toward the scalp in order to create volume and lift at the roots. To backcomb effectively, start by selecting a section of hair – approximately one-inch wide – at the top of your head. Hold this section straight up, then use a fine-toothed comb or teasing brush to gently push hair down towards the scalp in quick, short strokes. Be careful not to pull too hard, as this can cause breakage.

4. Use Hair Rollers or Curlers:

Using hair rollers or curlers can create lift by lifting individual sections of hair away from the scalp while it’s still wet or damp. Choose rollers that are large enough to provide the desired lift, and secure the hair tightly around them. To ensure your hair dries standing-up, it’s best to roll them upward or horizontally. Allow your hair to air dry completely or use a hairdryer with a diffuser attachment for quicker results. Once hair is dry, remove the rollers and gently style your hair upward using your fingers or a brush.

Experimenting with different methods to make your hair stand up allows you to create diverse and exciting looks, transforming your everyday hairstyle into a statement. Try these techniques and enjoy impressively uplifted locks!
