How to Draw Snoopy

Introduction:
Snoopy, the beloved beagle from Charles M. Schulz’s Peanuts comic strip, has been winning hearts worldwide since 1950. His whimsical expressions and postures make him a fun and endearing character to draw. In this article, we will guide you step-by-step through the process of drawing Snoopy in all his charm.
Materials:
– Pencil
– Eraser
– Paper
– Optional: Colored pencils, markers, or crayons for coloring
Step 1: Draw Snoopy’s Head
Begin by sketching a large oval shape for Snoopy’s head with your pencil. Make sure it’s softly drawn so you can adjust or erase it as needed. This oval will form the basis for his face and snout.
Step 2: Create the Snout and Nose
Next, draw a sideways “U” shape extending from the lower half of the oval. This will be Snoopy’s snout. At the end of the “U,” sketch a smaller oval – this will become his nose. Add two small curved lines connecting the snout to the head to give it depth.
Step 3: Add Eyes and Eyebrows
Now it’s time for Snoopy’s eyes! Draw two small ovals aligned horizontally above the snout, slightly inside the head oval you drew previously. For eyebrows, create two curved lines above each eye that follow the direction of his eyes.
Step 4: Complete the Facial Features
Draw Snoopy’s mouth by adding a simple backward “C” shape under his nose that connects to both ends of his snout. Inside his mouth, sketch a curved line to represent his tongue.
Step 5: Create Ears and Collar
Draw a floppy, elongated teardrop shape hanging from one side of Snoopy’s head for his ear. On the opposite side of his head, draw a curved line to suggest his hidden ear. To complete Snoopy’s iconic look, add a collar by drawing two horizontal lines around the bottom of his neck. In the center of the collar, draw a small circle for his dog tag.
Step 6: Sketch Snoopy’s Body
Snoopy has a somewhat rounded body. Draw an oval shape with the top part connecting to his neck and the bottom slightly pointed for his behind. Be sure to keep it proportional to his head.
Step 7: Add Arms and Legs
Draw Snoopy’s arms as thick, elongated rectangles originating from each side of his body near the neck. Add paws by sketching small ovals at the end of each arm. For legs, draw two thicker elongated rectangles extending downwards from the bottom part of his body, making sure they’re shorter than the arms. Sketch slightly bigger ovals at the end of each leg to complete his paws.
Step 8: Create a Tail
Snoopy’s tail is curled upward. To draw it, sketch a short, curved line starting from Snoopy’s behind and looping back towards his body.
Step 9: Final Touches and Coloring
Erase any unnecessary lines or smooth out rough edges on your drawing using an eraser. Once you’re satisfied with your Snoopy sketch, you can use colored pencils, markers or crayons to bring him to life! Remember that Snoopy is predominantly white with black ears and black spots on his back.
Congratulations! You’ve successfully drawn Snoopy, one of history’s most iconic comic strip characters! Now you can show off your artwork and share it with friends and family. Don’t forget to practice; with each new drawing, your skills will improve!
