Google Docs is one of the leading cloud-based word processing platforms available on the market. Not only is it a resourceful tool for writing, but it also has drawing, editing, commenting, and formatting features. While many people are aware of the basic editing, formatting, and commenting functions, not everyone knows how to draw on Google Docs. Drawing on Google Docs can come in handy when it comes to creating charts, diagrams, mind maps, and more. In this article, we’re going to show you how to draw on Google Docs.

Step 1: Open Google Docs

The first step is to open Google Docs. You can access Google Docs by visiting the Google Drive website or typing docs.google.com in your browser’s search bar. If you already have a Google account, simply log in. If you don’t have one, create one.

Step 2: Create a new document

Once you have logged in, click on the ‘New’ button and choose ‘Google Docs’ from the dropdown menu. This action will open a new document.

Step 3: Go to the ‘Insert’ tab

To start drawing, navigate to the ‘Insert’ tab located on the top menu bar. Click on the ‘Drawing’ option. A new window will open.

Step 4: Use the drawing tools

The new window will give you access to the drawing tools. The toolbar will appear on the top. Here are the available drawing tools:

Line- Draws a straight line. You can choose from various thicknesses and colors.

Shape – Allows you to draw shapes (e.g., circles, squares, triangles, etc.). You can choose from various shapes, thickness, and colors.

Text box- Allows you to enter text in a box. You can choose various colors, fonts, and sizes.

Scribble- Allows you to draw freehand using the hand tool. You can choose from various thicknesses and colors.

Step 5: Start drawing

After choosing an option from the toolbar, start drawing by clicking and dragging your cursor on the drawing canvas. You can also resize your drawing and rotate it using the handles on its sides. Once you are done drawing, you can save it and insert it into your Google Doc.

Step 6: Save and insert your drawing into your document

The final step is to save and insert your drawing into your document. You can save your drawing by clicking on the ‘Save and Close’ button located on the top right corner of the drawing window. To insert your drawing into your document, click on the ‘Insert’ button. You can choose to insert a drawing, image, or link to your drawing.

In conclusion, Google Docs offers a great and easy way to create drawings, diagrams, and other visual aids without needing another application. Follow these 6 easy steps, and you will be drawing on Google Docs in no time. With this skill, you can create professional documents, diagrams, and charts with more precision and creativity.
