Windows XP is an operating system that was launched by Microsoft in the year 2001. Despite the fact that it was released almost two decades ago, there is still an immense number of individuals who prefer using it over the newer versions of Windows. If you are one of those people, this article will show you how to download and install Windows XP for free.

Step 1: Check system requirements

You should first ensure that your computer meets the system requirements for Windows XP. The requirements are not very high, but you need to make sure your computer has:

– At least 1.5 GHz processor

– At least 512MB of RAM

– At least 1.5GB of free hard disk space

– A CD or DVD drive (if you plan to install from a disc)

Step 2: Download the ISO file

There are numerous websites that allow you to download Windows XP ISO files for free. However, you need to make sure that you get it from a legitimate website to prevent any unauthorized access to your computer. A few reputable websites include:

– Microsoft’s official website (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windowsxp)

– Softlay (https://softlay.net/operating-system/windows-xp-professional-64-bit-iso-free-download.html)

– Get Into PC (https://getintopc.com/softwares/operating-systems/windows-xp-64-bit-iso-free-download/)

Step 3: Create a bootable USB/DVD

Once you have downloaded the Windows XP ISO file, you need to create a bootable USB or DVD to install it. To do this, you can make use of software like Rufus, WinToFlash or PassMark, which is available for free. Alternatively, you can also use the built-in Windows USB/DVD Download Tool.

Step 4: Install Windows XP

After you have created the bootable USB/DVD, you can now proceed to install Windows XP. Simply insert the USB/DVD into your computer and restart the system. Make sure that your computer is set to boot from the bootable device by accessing your computer’s BIOS settings. Once you boot up your computer, follow the on-screen instructions to install Windows XP.

Step 5: Activate Windows XP

After installing Windows XP, you need to activate it to ensure that you have a genuine copy. You can do this by going to the Start menu, right-clicking on My Computer, and selecting Properties. From there, click on the Activation tab and follow the instructions to activate your Windows XP.
