How to Do Boxer Braids
Boxer braids have gained popularity in recent years due to their stylish and sporty aesthetic. Known for their durability and sleek appearance, they’re a go-to hairstyle for athletes and fashion enthusiasts alike. In this article, we’ll walk you through the process of creating boxer braids step by step.
What You’ll Need:-
A hairbrush
– Hair elastics
– Hair clips (optional)
– Hairspray (optional)
Step 1: Prepare Your Hair
Begin by brushing your hair to remove any tangles. This will make it easier to create clean, even braids. If you have particularly thick or curly hair, you may want to use a detangling spray or leave-in conditioner for added manageability.
Step 2: Divide Your Hair
Create a center part that runs down the middle of your head, separating your hair into two equal sections. Clip one side out of the way while you work on the other.
Step 3: Start Your Braid
Position yourself in front of a mirror so you can see what you’re doing. Take a small section of hair at the hairline on one side of the part, dividing it into three equal strands.
Step 4: Begin Braiding
Hold two strands in one hand and the third in the other. Cross the strand on the right side over the center strand, becoming the new center strand. Now cross the left strand over the new center strand.
Step 5: Add More Hair
As you continue braiding down your head, begin incorporating more hair from each side into your braid. This is what creates the distinctive tight, “woven” look of boxer braids.
To do this, simply grab a small section of loose hair on one side and combine it with the current outer strand before crossing it over the center strand. Repeat this process on the other side.
Step 6: Secure Your Braid
Once you’ve reached the nape of your neck, continue with a regular three-strand braid until you reach the end of your hair. Secure it with a hair elastic. Repeat this process on the other side of your head.
Step 7: Finishing Touches
For added hold and a smooth appearance, use hairspray to tame any flyaways. If desired, gently tug on the sides of each braid to create a slightly looser, more voluminous effect.
And that’s it! Now you know how to create stylish and functional boxer braids. Perfect for workouts, days spent in the sun, or a fashionable night out, this versatile hairstyle is both easy to achieve and incredibly chic.
