OneDrive is a cloud-based storage and syncing service from Microsoft that is built into Windows 11. While it is a useful tool for synchronizing your files across multiple devices, some users find it unnecessary or prefer to use alternative cloud storage solutions. If you’re one such user and want to disable or remove OneDrive on Windows 11, there are a few ways to go about it.

Here’s how to disable or remove OneDrive on Windows 11:

Method 1: Disable OneDrive from Startup

OneDrive is set to start automatically with Windows 11, but you can disable it easily:

1. Right-click the taskbar and select “Task Manager.”

2. Click on the “Startup” tab at the top.

3. Locate OneDrive in the list of programs and click on it.

4. Click the “Disable” button at the bottom of the window.

This method will prevent OneDrive from automatically starting up with Windows 11, but it won’t remove it from your system.

Method 2: Uninstall OneDrive from Windows 11

If you want to completely remove OneDrive from Windows 11, you can uninstall it:

1. Open the Windows Search bar and type “Control Panel” and hit enter.

2. Click on “Programs” from the options.

3. Click on “Programs and Features”.

4. Navigate to and click on “Microsoft OneDrive”.

5. Click “Uninstall” at the top.

Method 3: Remove OneDrive from Windows 11 using the Group Policy Editor

The Group Policy Editor is a powerful tool that lets you manage various settings on your Windows 11 system at an advanced level. Here’s how to use it to remove OneDrive:

1. Press “Windows + R” on your keyboard to open the Run dialog box.

2. Type “gpedit.msc” and hit enter.

3. In the Group Policy Editor, navigate to “Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > OneDrive”.

4. Double-click “Prevent the usage of OneDrive for file storage” on the right side of the window.

5. Select “Enabled” and click on “Apply” and “Ok”.

This method will completely remove OneDrive from your Windows 11 system, and will prevent it from being downloaded and installed again.
