How to Delete eSIM From iPhone and Android

In an age where technology constantly evolves, traditional SIM cards are being replaced by eSIMs—embedded SIMs that don’t require a physical card. However, there might come a time when you need to delete your eSIM from your device, whether it be for troubleshooting, transferring to a new phone, or while preparing to sell your current one. In this article, we’ll explore the steps needed to remove an eSIM from both iPhone and Android devices.

Deleting an eSIM from iPhone:

Step 1: Open the ‘Settings’ app on your iPhone.

Step 2: Tap ‘Cellular’ or ‘Mobile Data’, depending on your region.

Step 3: You will see a list of plans. Tap on the information icon next to the eSIM plan you want to delete.

Step 4: Scroll down and tap ‘Remove Cellular Plan’.

Step 5: A pop-up message will appear asking to confirm that you want to remove the eSIM. Tap ‘Remove Cellular Plan’ again to confirm.

It’s important to note that deleting an eSIM from your iPhone will not cancel your cellular service plan; you need to contact your carrier if you aim to do that.

Deleting an eSIM from Android:

Step 1: Open the ‘Settings’ app on your Android device.

Step 2: Navigate to ‘Connections’ or ‘Network & Internet’ depending on what version of Android you’re running.

Step 3: Tap on ‘SIM card manager’ or ‘Mobile Network’, again this may vary with the device.

Step 4: Find the eSIM profile you wish to delete and select it.

Step 5: Tap on ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove’ after selecting the profile.

As with the iPhone, removing an eSIM from your Android device does not cancel your subscription with the carrier. Make sure to contact them separately if that is your intention.

These steps should be carried out with caution. Once deleted, if you decide later that you want to use your eSIM again, it may require getting a new QR code or activation details from your network provider. Before deleting, make sure that this action is what you really need or want. Always check instructions specific to your device model and software version as steps can slightly vary between different manufacturers and updates.
