How to Delete a YouTube Channel

Introduction
Whether you’ve created a YouTube channel by accident or simply want to say goodbye to an outdated digital presence, deleting your channel doesn’t have to be difficult. In this article, we will walk you through the process of permanently deleting a YouTube channel, step by step.
Please note that deleting your YouTube channel will permanently remove channel-specific content, such as videos, playlists, likes, comments, and subscribers. However, your primary Google account and connected services (e.g. Gmail) will remain intact.
Step 1: Sign in to YouTube
First and foremost, navigate to the YouTube site (www.youtube.com) or open the mobile app on your device. Then sign in using the Google account linked to the channel you wish to delete.
Step 2: Access YouTube Studio
Click on your profile icon, which is located in the top-right corner of the screen. A dropdown menu will appear; select “YouTube Studio” from this list of options.
Step 3: Navigate to Settings
Once inside YouTube Studio, find and click on the “Settings” icon—it’s typically situated near the bottom of the left sidebar. Next, choose “Channel.”
Step 4: Visit Advanced Settings tab
Within Channel settings, click on the “Advanced Settings” tab. This is where specific management options for your YouTube channel can be found.
Step 5: Open Account Management Options
Scroll down until you see “Account Management.” Beneath it will be a link that reads “Manage Your Google Account.” Click on this link to proceed. It will take you to a new Google Account page related specifically to your connected account.
Step 6: Head to Data & Personalization
Locate and click on the “Data & Personalization” tab on your Google Account page.
Step 7: Choose “Delete a Service or Your Account”
On the Data & Personalization page, scroll down until you find a box labelled “Delete a Service or Your Account.” Click on this option.
Step 8: Click “Delete Your YouTube Content”
Now, click on “Delete a Service.” You will be asked to confirm your Google account password. After re-entering your password, you will be taken to the “Delete a Service” page. Here, click on the trashcan icon next to “YouTube” and select the option that reads “Delete Your YouTube Content.”
Step 9: Confirm Deletion
A final prompt will appear asking you to confirm your decision to delete your YouTube channel. Check the box that reads, “I understand that deleting this service can’t be undone, and I want to proceed.” Then, click on the red “DELETE MY CONTENT” button.
Conclusion
With these nine simple steps, you have successfully deleted your YouTube channel. Please remember that this process is irreversible; however, if you ever decide to return to YouTube in the future, simply use an existing Google Account or create a new one to start a fresh channel. Good luck!
