1. Choose the right color: Select a hair dye that is close to your natural hair color for a seamless blend with your existing roots.

2. Gather your materials: You will need gloves, a mixing bowl, an applicator brush, clips, and a comb.

3. Prepare your workspace: Lay down old newspapers or towels to avoid stains and have all your tools easily accessible.

4. Perform a strand test: Apply a small amount of the hair dye onto a hidden strand to check how the color will develop on your hair.

5. Mix the hair dye: Follow the manufacturer’s instructions on mixing the right ratio of color and developer in your bowl.

6. Divide your hair: Use clips to section off your hair into four parts – two at the front and two at the back.

7. Protect your skin: Apply petroleum jelly along your hairline, ears, and neck to prevent staining from the dye.

8. Apply dye to roots: Use an applicator brush to apply dye directly on the roots of each section, starting from the front and working towards the back.

9. Comb through roots: Use a fine-tooth comb to help evenly distribute the dye through your roots.

10. Use foil or a cap (optional): If you are worried about dripping or uneven coverage, cover each section with foil or use a plastic cap after applying dye to all sections.

11. Time it correctly: Check the package instructions for recommended processing time for darkening roots – usually between 30-45 minutes.

12. Conduct regular color checks: Every 5-10 minutes, gently touch up areas that appear lighter or need more coverage if necessary.

13. Rinse properly: When processing time is up, thoroughly rinse away the dye from your hair using lukewarm water until it runs clear.

14. Condition your hair: Apply a specially-formulated conditioner that is provided with your hair dye or a deep-conditioning treatment to nourish and protect your hair.

15. Dry and style: Gently towel-dry your hair before styling it as desired. Enjoy your darkened roots that seamlessly blend with the rest of your hair!

By following these 15 steps, you can easily darken your roots at home for a natural-looking, refreshed appearance. Don’t be afraid to experiment and find the method that works best for your hair type and shade.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
