Creating a timeline in Google Slides is a great way to visually depict events or projects chronologically. Here are the steps to create a timeline in Google Slides:

Step 1: Open a new Google Slides presentation or select an existing one.

Step 2: Click on the Insert dropdown menu and select “Drawing”.

Step 3: In the pop-up window, click on the “New” button.

Step 4: In the drawing canvas, click on the “Shape” tool and select the horizontal line.

Step 5: Draw a line in the canvas to the desired length and thickness.

Step 6: On the right side of the drawing canvas, click on the “Text Box” tool and draw a box below the horizontal line. This will serve as the timeline labels.

Step 7: Add your desired timeline labels in descending order from left to right, starting with the earliest date first.

Step 8: Click on the “Shape” tool again and select the “Arrow” shape.

Step 9: Draw an arrow at the beginning of the horizontal line, pointing to the earliest date on the timeline.

Step 10: Click on the “Arrow” shape again and draw another arrow at the end of the horizontal line, pointing to the most recent date on the timeline.

Step 11: Click on the “Text Box” tool once more and draw another box below the horizontal line. This will serve as the event labels.

Step 12: Add your desired event labels in chronological order beneath their respective timeline dates.

Step 13: Once all labels and arrows are in place, save and exit the drawing canvas.

Step 14: Click on the “Slide” dropdown menu and select “Change background”.

Step 15: Click on the “Choose image” button and select an appropriate image to serve as the background for the timeline.

Step 16: Resize and position the drawing canvas in the center of the slide as desired.

Step 17: Add any additional details or visuals to the slide as needed.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
