Pigar Pigar is a popular Filipino dish originating from Dagupan City, Pangasinan. It’s a delicious blend of stir-fried beef and vegetables that’s perfect for casual gatherings and family dinners. Capture the essence of Filipino cuisine by following this step-by-step guide on how to cook Pigar Pigar.

Ingredients:

– 1 lb beef sirloin or round, thinly-sliced

– 1 large onion, thinly-sliced

– 3 cloves garlic, minced

– 1/4 cup soy sauce

– 1/4 cup calamansi juice or lemon juice

– 1/4 cup water

– 2 cups cabbage, shredded

– Salt and pepper, to taste

– Cooking oil

Instructions:

1. Start by preparing the ingredients. Thinly slice the beef and trim off any excess fat. Cut the onions into thin slices as well.

2. Mince the garlic cloves and set them aside.

3. In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce and calamansi or lemon juice.

4. Add the sliced beef to the marinade mixture, ensuring every piece is well coated. Marinate for at least 30 minutes to an hour.

5. Heat a pan or wok over medium-high heat.

6. Add around 2 tablespoons of cooking oil to the pan and let it heat up.

7. Once the oil is hot, sauté the minced garlic until fragrant and golden brown.

8. Add the marinated beef slices along with its marinade into the pan. Cook for approximately 5 minutes or until beef starts browning.

9. Pour in 1/4 cup of water to deglaze the pan and add some more moisture to the dish.

10. Put in the sliced onions and continue cooking until they’re soft and translucent.

11. Add in the shredded cabbage and cook for another 3-5 minutes, until the vegetables are slightly tender but still crisp.

12. Season with salt and pepper according to your preference.

13. Serve immediately alongside steamed white rice or on its own.

Indulge in this mouthwatering dish that showcases the simplicity and versatility of Filipino cuisine by following these 13 steps to make Pigar Pigar. Enjoy your scrumptious meal, and don’t be surprised if you find yourself making it time and time again!
