In today’s digital world, your Facebook profile can be the first impression you make on potential clients, employers or even new friends. That’s why it’s essential to take good care of your profile, making it look professional, mature and presentable. Here’s how you can clean up your Facebook profile and make sure it’s up to par.

1. Review your privacy settings

Your privacy is essential on Facebook. You need to make sure you’re in control of who can see your posts, photos and other information. Go to your profile, click on the three dots next to the “View Activity Log” button and select “Settings & Privacy.” Next, click on “Privacy Checkup,” where you’ll find a quick guide to help you review and update your privacy settings.

2. Delete embarrassing posts

Embarrassing posts from your past can create a negative reputation. Take a good look through your profile and delete anything that’s embarrassing, unprofessional or inappropriate. This includes posts, comments, likes, and photos.

3. Update your profile picture and cover photo

Your profile picture and cover photo are the first things people see when they visit your Facebook profile. Ensure these images are high-quality, professional, and reflect who you are. Avoid posting selfies that are blurry, dark or unflattering.

4. Unfollow or unfriend people

As your network grows, your Facebook feed might become cluttered with irrelevant and inappropriate posts. Unfollow or unfriend people who regularly post content that you don’t want to see or associate with.

5. Review and untag photos

Tagged photos can appear on your profile photo grid, which can be unprofessional. Review and untag photos that don’t reflect your professional image. Go to the photo, click on the three dots in the top right corner, and select “Remove tag.”

6. Edit your bio and About section

Your bio and About section are essential for introducing yourself to your audience. Make sure it includes all of your relevant skills, experiences, certifications, and other achievements. Avoid including any information that might be considered unprofessional or irrelevant.

7. Check your activity log

Your activity log is a list of your Facebook activity since the beginning of time. Take a few minutes to go through it and delete anything that’s not flattering or is irrelevant to your brand image.

In conclusion, it’s essential to clean up your Facebook profile to make sure it reflects your professional or personal image correctly. By following these tips, you’ll be able to maintain control over your privacy and ensure that your profile looks up to par.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
