Step 1: Preparation

Before you start, gather the necessary items to clean your hermit crab. These include a soft-bristle toothbrush, a small container with shallow water, a towel, and a spare shell if needed.

Step 2: Remove the Hermit Crab from its Habitat

Carefully pick up your hermit crab and remove it from its home. Make sure to handle it gently to avoid stressing or harming the animal.

Step 3: Fill the Container with Water

Fill a small container with shallow water, making sure the water is dechlorinated and at room temperature. The water level should be deep enough for the hermit crab to submerge but not too deep to cause drowning.

Step 4: Place the Hermit Crab in Water

Gently place your hermit crab into the water-filled container. Allow it to soak for a few minutes to loosen any dirt or debris on its shell and body.

Step 5: Gently Scrub your Hermit Crab

Using a soft-bristle toothbrush, gently scrub your hermit crab’s shell and body. Pay attention to any dirty areas or spots where debris has accumulated. Be careful not to scrub too hard, as this could harm your hermit crab.

Step 6: Rinse Your Hermit Crab

After scrubbing, carefully pick up your hermit crab and rinse it by holding it under a slow stream of dechlorinated room temperature water. Be sure not to submerge its head or breathing holes while rinsing.

Step 7: Dry Your Hermit Crab

Place your cleaned hermit crab on a clean towel and gently pat it dry. Avoid using heat sources such as hairdryers, which can cause harm or stress to your pet.

Step 8: Return Your Hermit Crab to Its Habitat

Once your hermit crab is completely dry, return it to its cleaned habitat. Make sure to provide a spare shell in case your hermit crab wants to switch shells after its bath.

Step 9: Clean the Habitat

While your hermit crab is drying, take this opportunity to clean its habitat. Remove any waste or uneaten food, replace dirty substrate, and ensure the tank’s humidity and temperature levels are suitable for your pet.

By following these nine steps, you will create a clean and healthy environment for your hermit crab, ensuring it lives a happy and stress-free life.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
