How to Change the User and User Profile Name on Windows 10

As with many operating systems, Windows 10 allows users to personalize their accounts with unique names and user profiles. These settings can be helpful for keeping track of multiple users on a single device or simply adding a touch of personalization to a user’s experience.

If you’re looking to change the user or user profile name on Windows 10, you’re in luck! It’s a fairly simple process that can be completed in just a few steps. Here’s how to do it:

1. Open the “Settings” app

To start, navigate to the Windows 10 “Settings” app. This can be done by clicking the “Start” button in the bottom left corner of your screen and selecting the gear icon. Alternatively, you can type “Settings” into the search bar on your taskbar and select it from the results.

2. Select “Accounts”

Once you’re in the “Settings” app, select the “Accounts” tab. This will bring up a menu of options related to your user account, including your profile picture and other settings.

3. Choose “Your info”

On the left-hand side of the “Accounts” menu, you’ll see several options. Choose “Your info” to access your user account settings.

4. Click “Manage my Microsoft account”

At the bottom of the “Your info” menu, you’ll see a button that says “Manage my Microsoft account.” Clicking this will take you to the Microsoft account website, where you can access additional settings.

5. Sign in with your Microsoft account

To make changes to your user account name or profile picture, you’ll need to sign in to your Microsoft account. Use your existing email address and password to log in.

6. Select “Edit name”

Once you’re signed in, you’ll see a menu of options related to your Microsoft account. Choose “Edit name” to change your name as it appears on your account.

7. Update your name and click “Save”

Type in your new name and select “Save” to apply the changes. You may need to log out of Windows and back in for the changes to take effect.

*Note: If you’re just looking to change the name that appears on your Windows 10 user profile (but not your Microsoft account), you can do so by going back to the “Your info” section in the “Settings” app and clicking “Edit name” under your user profile picture.
