How to Call Europe: 7 Steps

In today’s interconnected world, communication has become more accessible and instantaneous than ever before. Despite being situated on different continents, people can easily keep in touch with family, friends, and business associates in Europe by making a phone call. Regardless of your location, you can use the same generic steps to reach Europeans by dialing an international call. Here are seven simple steps to guide you on how to call Europe:

1. Check the time zone

Before making a call to Europe, ensure that you are aware of the time difference between your country and the European country you intend to call. Keep in mind that some locations within the same country might have different time zones, so be mindful of business hours or an appropriate time to avoid waking someone late in the night.

2. Find the exit code for your country

To make an international call, you must start with your country’s exit code (also known as “international access code”). This is the number that allows your call to leave your local telephone system and connect it globally. For instance, the exit code for the United States and Canada is 011.

3. Find European country code

Next is obtaining the correct country code for the European nation you wish to reach. Each European country has its unique 1-3 digit area code used to indicate where your call will be directed. For example, France’s country code is 33, Germany’s is 49, and Italy’s is 39.

4. Dial the city or area code

After dialing the appropriate exit and country codes, you will need to enter the city or area code corresponding to the specific region you’re trying to reach within that nation—for instance, Berlin’s area code is 30 in Germany.

5. Enter local phone number

Now that you’ve put in your exit code, followed by the county and city/area codes, it’s time to dial the recipient’s local phone number. European phone numbers typically range from 6-10 digits in length, excluding the area code.

6. Consider using a calling card

International calls can be costly if carried out through your usual phone plans. Using prepaid calling cards or even Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services like Skype or WhatsApp can save you money while connecting you to Europe.

7. Stay connected

Now that you have all the necessary information, you can make your call! Simply follow steps 2-5, entering each part consecutively and ensure to establish a strong connection with your chosen method.

In conclusion, by following these seven steps and noting the relevant codes and time zones, you can easily make a call to Europe and maintain connections across geographical barriers. Don’t shy away from reaching out – the world is just a phone call away!
