How to Call Canada from the UK: 7 Steps

Introduction:

Making international calls can be intimidating, but the process is actually quite simple if you follow a few basic steps. In this article, we will provide you with seven easy steps to help you call Canada from the United Kingdom.

Step 1: Prepare for the call

Before making a call to Canada, ensure that you have the Canadian telephone number readily available, including the area code. If you’re using a landline, check with your provider about international calling fees and plans. For mobile phones, make sure you have sufficient credit or an international calling plan in place.

Step 2: Dial the exit code

The first step in making any international call is dialing the exit code of the country you are calling from. In this case, when calling from the UK, dial “00” as your exit code.

Step 3: Dial the country code

After dialing the UK’s exit code, enter Canada’s country code. The country code for Canada is “1,” so go ahead and dial “1” immediately after dialing “00”.

Step 4: Dial the area code

Next, enter the three-digit area code of the destination phone number. Canadian area codes generally depend on geographical regions such as provinces or territories.

Step 5: Dial the local phone number

Following the area code, input the seven-digit local telephone number of your contact in Canada.

Step 6: Wait for a connection

Allow some time for your call to connect internationally since it may take a few seconds longer than a domestic call. Once connected, listen for ringing or voicemail on the other end of the line.

Step 7: Be mindful of time zones

It’s essential to consider any time differences between your location in the UK and your contact in Canada before placing your call. There may be a significant gap depending on which province your contact is in, so it’s best to make a call during their daytime or evening hours to avoid disturbing them during the night.

Conclusion:

In summary, making a call to Canada from the UK requires seven easy steps – preparing for the call, dialing the exit code, inputting the country code, adding the area code, entering the local phone number, waiting for a connection, and being mindful of time zones. By following these guidelines, you’ll be able to easily stay in touch with your Canadian contacts from the United Kingdom.
