How to calculate gallons in a round container

Round containers are particularly common, and calculating their capacity in gallons might seem intimidating at first. Step 1: Measure the dimensions of the container
In order to calculate gallons in a round container, you’ll need two measurements: the diameter (or radius) and the height. These measurements must be taken in inches as we are calculating gallons. Use a measuring tape or ruler to accurately measure these dimensions.
Step 2: Determine the radius
To find the radius of your container, you can either directly measure it, or divide the diameter by 2. The radius is important because it’s used in calculating the volume of a cylinder (which is how we’re treating our round container).
Step 3: Convert dimensions to feet
