YouTube is a popular platform with millions of viewers around the world. It features an endless stream of content, from music videos to educational videos to entertainment shows. However, sometimes you may only be interested in a specific section of a lengthy video. Fortunately, YouTube has an easy way to bookmark or share specific sections of a video using a feature called “Timestamps.”

Timestamps allow you to specify the exact start time of a section of a video that you want to share or bookmark. It’s a valuable tool that saves time and keeps relevant information handy. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to use timestamps on YouTube:

Step 1: Open the Video You Want to Share or Bookmark

Find a video that has content that you are interested in sharing or bookmarking. Open the video in your browser and pause the video at the point where you want to start the specific section you want to share or bookmark.

Step 2: Locate the Video’s Timeline

In the bottom left corner of the video player, you’ll see the timeline for the video.

Step 3: Select Your Timestamp

Move the timeline to the exact moment where you want to start the section you are interested in sharing. Pause the video at this timestamp. Now you are ready to create your timestamp link.

Step 4: Create Your Timestamp Link

To create your timestamp link, right-click on the video and select “Copy video URL at current time.” Alternatively, you can add “?t=” followed by the number of seconds from the start of the video when sharing URLs manually. You can then paste the URL into an email, message or social media post.

Step 5: Share Your Timestamp with Others

Share the copied link with whoever you want to share the section with. When they click on the link, the video will begin playing at the timestamp you specified.

Alternatively, you can add a hashtag followed by the timestamp to the video’s comments section, which will help other viewers quickly get to the specific section you’ve shared.

In conclusion, timestamps on YouTube are useful for sharing or bookmarking specific section of a video. It’s an easy process that only takes a few clicks. By following these simple steps, you can save time and share relevant content with others. So next time you come across an interesting video on YouTube, remember to use the timestamp feature to focus on the bits that matter most to you.
