How to Automatically Forward Emails From Outlook to Gmail (and Vice-Versa)
In today’s fast-paced world, it’s no surprise that our inboxes are filled with hundreds of emails every day. As professionals, we need to keep up with these messages, respond quickly, and ensure that important information doesn’t slip through the cracks.
If you’re juggling two email accounts—one for work (Outlook) and one for personal use (Gmail)—you might find it hard to keep track of all your emails. The good news is, there’s a solution—automatically forwarding your emails from one account to the other.
Here’s how to automatically forward your emails from Outlook to Gmail (and vice-versa):
Forwarding Emails From Outlook to Gmail
- Open Outlook and click on the “File” menu at the top-left of the screen.
- Click “Options” and “Mail”.
- Under the “Forwarding” section, select “Forward all incoming mail to the following email addresses” and enter your Gmail address in the box.
- Click “OK” to save your changes.
Note: You may also want to choose “Keep a copy of forwarded messages in Outlook’s Inbox” to ensure that you have a copy of your emails in both accounts.
Forwarding Emails From Gmail to Outlook
- Open your Gmail account and click the gear icon in the top-right corner.
- Select “See all settings”.
- Click the “Forwarding and POP/IMAP” tab.
- Click “Add a forwarding address” and enter your Outlook email address.
- Click “Next” and then “Proceed”.
- A verification code will be sent to your Outlook account. Enter the code in the designated box and click “Verify”.
- Select “Forward a copy of incoming mail to” and choose your Outlook email address.
- Choose what you want to do with your Gmail emails after they’re forwarded (e.g. keep Gmail’s copy in the inbox, mark Gmail’s copy as read, archive Gmail’s copy, delete Gmail’s copy, or do nothing).
- Click “Save Changes” to complete the process.
Note: If you want to stop forwarding Gmail messages to Outlook, simply go back to the “Forwarding and POP/IMAP” tab in Gmail settings and click on the “Disable forwarding” option.
