The iPhone is a powerful device that can make your life easier in many ways. One of the most useful features of the iPhone is its ability to dial extensions automatically. This feature can save you time and frustration when you need to call a business or organization that uses extensions.

Here’s how to set up and use automatic extension dialing on your iPhone:

Step 1: Add the Extension to the Contact

The first step is to add the extension to the contact you want to call. To do this, open the Contacts app on your iPhone and select the contact you want to add the extension to.

Once you’ve selected the contact, tap the “Edit” button in the top right corner of the screen. Scroll down to the “Phone” section and tap the “+” button next to “Add Phone”.

Enter the phone number of the contact in the “Phone” field and add the extension in the “Extension” field.

Step 2: Activate the Phone App

Once you’ve added the extension to the contact, open the Phone app on your iPhone by tapping the green phone icon on the home screen.

Step 3: Dial the Number

To dial the number, tap on the contact you want to call under the “Favorites” or “Contacts” section. Once you have selected the contact, the phone number will appear on the screen.

To automatically dial the extension, tap and hold the “*” key until a comma appears. This is known as the pause key. Then, enter the extension number after the comma.

For example, if the extension is 1234, you would enter the number like this: 555-123-4567*1234

Step 4: Make the Call

After you’ve entered the phone number and extension, tap the green phone icon to make the call. The call will automatically dial the main number and then pause for a moment before dialing the extension number.

If you have more than one extension to dial, you can add multiple pauses and extensions in the same way. Simply add another “*” key and another extension number after each pause.

Conclusion

Automatic extension dialing on the iPhone is a helpful feature that can save you time and effort when making business and professional calls. By following the steps above, you can easily set up and use this feature on your iPhone. With a simple tap and hold of the pause key, you’ll be able to connect with anyone you need to reach, hassle-free.
