iTunes is a popular media player, media library, and mobile device management application developed by Apple. Similarly, Apple Music is a digital music streaming service that operates on the iTunes platform. If you’re an iTunes or Apple Music user, you may need to authorize or deauthorize a computer to access or secure your account. In this guide, we’ll discuss how to authorize and deauthorize a computer on iTunes or Apple Music.

First, it’s important to understand what it means to authorize and deauthorize a computer. The act of authorization grants a computer access to your iTunes or Apple Music account. This means you can download music, movies, TV shows, audiobooks, and apps from the iTunes Store, and access your Apple Music subscription on that computer. On the other hand, deauthorizing a computer revokes its access to your account. This means you can’t download or access media from iTunes, or stream content from Apple Music on that computer.

How to Authorize a Computer on iTunes or Apple Music

1. Make sure you’re signed in to iTunes or Apple Music with your Apple ID and password.
2. Go to the “Store” tab in iTunes or Apple Music.

3. Select “Authorize This Computer” from the dropdown menu.

4. Enter your Apple ID and password when prompted, and click “Authorize.”

5. You can now download and access media from the iTunes Store, or stream content from Apple Music on this computer.

Note: You can authorize up to 5 computers to use your iTunes or Apple Music account at one time.

How to Deauthorize a Computer on iTunes or Apple Music

If you’ve reached the limit of 5 authorized computers, or want to prevent unauthorized access to your account, you can deauthorize a computer from iTunes or Apple Music.

1. Make sure you’re signed in to iTunes or Apple Music with your Apple ID and password.
2. Go to the “Store” tab in iTunes or Apple Music.

3. Select “Deauthorize This Computer” from the dropdown menu.

4. Enter your Apple ID and password when prompted, and click “Deauthorize.”

5. The computer will no longer be authorized to access your iTunes or Apple Music account.

Note: If you’ve lost access to a computer or can’t deauthorize it from within iTunes, you can deauthorize all computers associated with your account at once. To do this, go to iTunes on your computer, sign in to your Apple ID, go to “Store,” and select “View Account.” Under “iTunes in the Cloud,” click “Manage Devices,” and then click “Remove All” to deauthorize all computers.

In conclusion, authorizing and deauthorizing a computer on iTunes or Apple Music is a straightforward process. Following these simple steps will help you manage your account, prevent unauthorized access to your purchases, and ensure the security of your media files.
