Spread the love

1. Choose a novel that interests you: Find a novel with a plot, genre, or writing style that resonates with your personal interests. This will make it more likely for you to stay engaged and truly appreciate the work.

2. Research the author and historical context: Understanding the writer’s background and the time period in which the novel was written can provide valuable insight into its themes and messages.

3. Set aside dedicated reading time: Develop a routine where you can read without distractions for at least 30 minutes per day, allowing yourself to immerse in the world of the novel.

4. Read actively: As you read, ask yourself questions about what is happening, why characters are acting in certain ways, and what possible outcomes or themes are being conveyed.

5. Take notes: Jot down interesting passages, character developments, or themes as they occur throughout the story. This can help you better understand and engage with the novel.

6. Discuss the novel with others: Share your thoughts on the novel with friends or join book clubs to engage in thought-provoking conversations which can enhance your appreciation for the story.

7. Reread passages or chapters: Revisiting parts of the novel can allow you to better understand complex ideas, uncover new meanings, or enjoy memorable moments even more.

8. Read critical analyses or reviews: External perspectives from literary scholars or critics can add another dimension to your understanding of the novel.

9. Reflect on how the novel impacts you: Consider how much emotions or ideas presented in the story resonate with your own experiences or beliefs.

10. Savor the language: Pay attention to word choice, sentence structure, and figurative language used by authors as these elements contribute to creating an immersive reading experience.

11. Compare with other works by the same author or in the same genre: Observing similarities and differences among novels can help you appreciate the author’s range or creativity in their storytelling.

12. Develop your interpretation: After completing the novel, form your own personal interpretation on its themes, messages, and complexities. This exercise can deepen your emotional and intellectual connection to the story.

By following these 12 steps, you can develop a deeper appreciation for novels, enriching your literary world and expanding your understanding of the power of storytelling.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
