How to Add Description to Photos and Albums on Google Photos

Adding descriptions to your photos and albums in Google Photos allows you to easily organize and search for your memories. Whether you want to add context to a picture from a recent holiday or label an album of a family event, here’s how you can do it:
For Individual Photos:
1. Open Google Photos (photos.google.com) and sign in if you’re not already.
2. Navigate through your photos and click on the one to which you want to add a description.
3. Once the photo is open, click the info icon (a small letter ‘i’ inside a circle) usually found at the top or bottom right of the screen.
4. A sidebar will appear on the right-hand side of the screen showing some details about the photo. Here, you’ll find an option that says ‘Add a description’.
5. Click on ‘Add a description’ and type in whatever details you’d like to remember about the photo.
6. After typing, there’s no need to save; Google Photos automatically saves the description as soon as you click away.
For Albums:
1. Go to Google Photos and make sure you are logged in.
2. Click on ‘Albums’ on the left menu bar, then select or create an album you want to add a description to.
3. Open the album and at the top of the photos, locate and click on the three dots icon for more options (usually on the upper right side).
4. Select ‘Edit album’.
5. At this point, Google will give you a field at the top where you can ‘Add title’ if it doesn’t have one already.
6. Below that, there is also a field where it says ‘Add text’. Click here to add your album description.
7. Write your desired description for your whole album context or highlight its content.
8. Remember that changes are saved automatically in Google Photos, so once you click back or exit out of editing mode, your descriptions will be saved.
Both these methods help enhance your digital photo archive by making it more searchable and personalized with relevant anecdotes or information.
With these easy steps, you can ensure that your photo collection is not just a bunch of pixels but a well-documented repository of your precious memories!
